Gorilla's diet is ~99% Plant-based. Chimp's diet is ~94% Plant-based.
Orangutan's diet is ~99% Plant-based. Baboon's diet is ~85% Plant-based.
Among land mammals over 40 LBs (closest to our evolutionary tree), MOST herbivores have longer gestation (>8 months) and/or give birth to one baby at a time.
Whereas ALL Omnivores & Carnivores have shorter gestation (<6 months) and/or give birth to multiple babies at once.
Given the extreme complexity of the human brain, a longer gestation period of herbivores (9 months) provides more time for brain growth & development of a single human baby in the womb.
Evidence-Proof: According to research, the rate of mental retardation is generally considered higher among twins and premature births, primarily due to the increased risk of lower birth weight and shorter gestational age, which can impact neurodevelopment (Brain Development).
